Zoo in the Votchina of Ded Moroz (Father Frost Hometown Zoo)

It is located 8 kilometers from Veliky Ustyug, in the Votchina of Ded Moroz (Father Frost Homeland Zoo). The area of ​​the zoo is 7.5 hectares in a pine forest, on the bank of the Sukhona River.

More than 400 species of animals and birds, including rare ones, listed in the Red Book, live in the zoo. Together with the usual inhabitants of the northern forests - bears, wolves, lynxes, foxes, elks, reindeer, beavers, squirrels, visitors can see camels, marals, African ostriches, alpaca, yaks, donkeys, red wolf, common raccoons, rock marten, etc.

There is collected a rare collection of cranes, waterfowl and birds of prey in the zoo: demoiselle cranes, red-crowned cranes, white storks, white and black swans, geese and ducks of different breeds, tawny eagles, polar owls, a wood grouse, eagle owl, and an Ural owl. Other species of birds are widely represented as well: peacocks, pheasants, parrots, decorative chickens. There are also domestic animals - horses of different breeds, sheep, Cameroon markhoors, dogs, rabbits, geese and turkeys, guinea pigs, turtles.

Wolves, foxes, bears, lynx, elks, deer, yaks, camels, squirrels, donkeys, geese and ducks breed in the zoo. Employees of the zoos adapt and release the yield of squirrels, geese, ducks, elks, foxes to the wild.
