One of the Cherepovets symbols is the Oktyabrskyi Most (October Bridge) across the Sheksna River — the first cable-stayed bridge built in Russia. Motifs of the Vologda lace and fifteen bas-reliefs symbolizing the Vologda region cities were used in the bridge design.
The exposition of the museum is dedicated to the city head Ivan Milyutin, who was born in Cherepovets in the XIX century.
The museum is located in a house where a battle-painter Vasily Vereshchagin was born.
In this house in 1907, Varlam Shalamov, the author of the famous "Kolyma Stories", was born and lived before his departure to Moscow in 1924.

The museum displays postcards on the New Year themes, issued in the XX century, as well as the largest postcard in the world (4.2 by 2.8 meters in size).
The main exposition of the museum is devoted to the mode of peasant life, illustrated by original household items, featuring the traditions and customs of the Belozersk region residents at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century.

The crafts center is one of the most interesting places in Belozersk. The old merchant's mansion opens for visitors nine workshops of folk crafts: willow weaving, woodwork, pottery, making items from cattails, loom, painting on wood, birchbark weaving, folk toys making, making straw products.
The exhibition complex occupies three wooden houses belonging to the merchant Samarin: a merchant's mansion, a shop and a tenement house, representing a typical example of the urban development of the late ХIХ — and early XX century.

The museum exposition is devoted to the history and traditions of peasant life in the Russian North. Here you can take part in master classes on flax processing, educational and entertaining programs.
