Christmas tour on the route Vologda - Kirillov - Ferapontovo.


January 5th (Friday):

− Meeting at the railway station from 05.00 to 06.00, from 09.00 to 09.30 (a bus on the station square with the sign "HOTEL-TOUR"), transfer to the hotel, accommodation.

− Breakfast.

− Sightseeing tour of the New Year city "Vologda Lace"! You will get acquainted with our ancient northern city, decorated with wooden carvings. Admire the Vologda Kremlin and St. Sophia Cathedral, stroll around the area of ​​wooden architecture of Vologda, seeing the famous carved palisade.

− Excursion to the unique "Lace Museum" in Russia. The first lace museum in the world is a real lace treasure, where lace of various nations of the world is collected, samples of all kinds of lace, however much of the museum's exposition is given to Vologda lace. Visiting the Museum of lace is an opportunity to see the works of Vologda lace, which glorified the Vologda region, like no other industry; to get acquainted with the creations of the hands of the masters of the Vologda land, who entered the history of Russian culture, as remarkable works of lacework - truly folk art of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

− Lunch at the restaurant.

− Visit to the man's Spaso-Prilutsky  monastery (guided by the monastery's servants, a request to the ladies to have skirts and headdresses).

− Participation in the interactive program in the Museum of Wooden Architecture Semenkovo ​​(12 km) - "Christmas Games" - "From Christmas to Epiphany - there is no prohibition". You'll go into the hut, where the holy days pass, and in the hut "burns"! Fun, noise, dances, dancing ...

− In the program: carols and round dances, subchildrious fortune-telling and Russian dancing, mummers and stories of villagers about how our ancestors had fun in ancient times.

− On request, a visit to the shop of the Snezhinka production association is an opportunity to purchase products at the manufacturer's price (lace, linen and knitwear products) and the Vologda Souvenirs store (table linen, cloth and flax yarns, linen clothes, wood painting and carving on birch bark, jewelry and silverware from Veliky Ustyug, confectionery and dairy products, Vologda butter, alcohol products of local producers).

− Free time.

6 January (Saturday):

− Breakfast

− Departure to Sizma (100 km) is an original corner of Vologda, an ancient Russian village, where rites and customs are still carefully preserved. Even the local colloquial speech has not changed here, the Syzem dialect has been preserved in its original form since the middle of the 17th century.

− Participation in the program "Under the Christmas Star": a meeting with bread and salt and an icon. Visit to the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which has preserved to this day its shrines - the remains of a stone cross that sailed along the river, as well as the Kazan image of the Mother of God.

− Ascent to the bell tower (a small excursion, the opportunity to ring bells).

− Visit the museum of Sizma history and the museum of flax.

− Russian dinner in the guest hut (dishes cooked in the Russian oven according to ancient Sizem recipes - soup, potatoes, pies, tea, rustic beer). Return to Vologda.

January 7 (Sunday):

− Breakfast

We invite you to go on a trip to the Holy places of Vologda - Kirillo-Belozersky and Ferapontov monasteries (110 km). Excursion to Ferapontov Monastery is the only monument of world importance in the Russian North, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You will get acquainted with the history of the monastery, visiting the church of St. Martinian, Annunciation with a refectory.

− Transfer to the city of Kirillov (30 km).

− Lunch at the restaurant.

− Excursion to the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery - one of the largest Russian monasteries, was founded in 1397 - "The Great Sovereign Fortress". On its territory in 12 hectares are eleven stone churches of the XV-XVIII centuries. (The territory of the monastery, the Archimandrite Corps - the main exposition of the museum, which presents monuments of painting of the 6th-17th centuries, applied art, the history of the monastery).

− Approximately at 19.30 - 20.00 return to Vologda (railway station).

Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery is one of the biggest monasteries of the Russian North located at the northern-east Vologda outskirts on the Vologda river bank. The Monastery was founded in 1371 by St. Dimitri, religious companion of Sergius of Radonezh.
Syz'ma is an ancient Russian village in the Vologda region, where ancient crafts preserved: weaving, embroidery, lacework, cooperage and smithery.
